.Martinez, California . . My dear Muir :- . You doubtless know today that our friend Irish has failed to get the Land
Commissionership. He is now saying that he did not want it, and is asking for something at home,-probably the San Francisco
Collectorship. If California wants him she ought to have him. Heine said: Every country has the Jews it deserves , and we
