Madison Apr 25' 70 Dear Mother. I was very glad to receive your letter dated the 21st and to hear that you were better.
We are all very well, and are getting on better than you could expect. Anna is a good girl and in fact the goose ha illegible
high generally. I had Frank Hoyt here last Fri. night, and Sat. we walked around Fourth Lake, or 25 miles. We started at 5
1/2 A.M. and reach- ed the Branch at 8. which is 7 miles. The Branch is a little village having 1 Store 1 meat market 2 blksmith
shops, and 3 Saloons. There is also a mill, but it is not going. This mill has a brick chimney larger than any in Madison,
and is, I think, over 100 feet high. It is owned by a man in New York. There are over 100 children in the public school there.
Well, Dear Mother, we walked on until we reached home at 3 1/2 PM 06083
