1 letterhead Merced, Cal. May 19, 1903 Dear wife Louie - I left the President here last evening at 8.15 after a good
long sleep am feeling much better than when I started on the grand trip am ready for the Santa Fe due? at 1.40 P.M. I had
a perfectly glorious time with the President the mountains. The first night we camped beneath the Mariposa Sequoias he I alone,
except 3 - cook packers, Next night in the Silver firs near 03251 2 letterhead Glacier Point while a hearty little
snow storm was blowing after a hard days ride horseback, on foot through deep snow sheets patches. Next morning we spent an
hour on Glacier Point, every thing bright glorious after the storm, then rode round the Illilonette to head of Nevada Fall,
thence to head of Little Yosemite thence down past Vernal 03251
