Martinez, Sep. 29 /06 Dear Dr. Merriam, We were very glad to get tidings of you. Come up any time, though only Helen and
I are here, Wanda and her Mr. Hanna being gone for a month. The house is being repaired, but there are still good camping
spots in it and grapes etc. for food. We were very sorry to learn that your Uncle James was not in his usual health. No wonder,
considering the care he has been carrying these latter years. Hoping to see you very soon, I am Faithfully yours, JOHN
MUIR 03765
