Montreal, Canada, Oct. 16 1898 . Dear Helen, I'm writing this on the train just starting across the great St. Lawrence
River for Burlington, Vermont, on beautiful Lake Champ lain that you have read about in Farkman's books. Then I'm going to
the White Mountains for a few days, and then back to Boston. This is a very large city, and the great flood of crystal water
from the Lakes with many islands is magnificent. It is a fine bright morning, keen and frosty, and the red and yellow foliage
along the river banks is gloriously brilliant. I'll soon be home. Your loving F. J.M. Postal card addressed to Helen
