Mar. 16, 1880 (2) Have you seen much of Miss Pelton. I was sending her a package of ferns, and one specimen was left out,
which I wish you would hand to her if she is still in Chico. All the memories of my visit about Chico are delightful, and
nothing that I could possibly say here would half express my lively appreciation of your Kindness. Remember me to your sister
when you write, and tell her that I was not conscious of having neglected any of her letters, but that rather I was, in defiance
of all epistolary law and usage, ruthlessly pelting her with a half dozen heavy sheets for every one of hers, I will be glad
when myworks, and ways, and good angel, Providence, etc, allow me to once more visit you and the General in your pretty home.
Remember those headings I gave you. Consider the lilies, and the Violets also, and Heaven bless you in all the good works
you are so heartily and bravely trying to do. Ever your friend John Muir. illegible
