Abstract:
Helena Opid Modjeska is sitting in an ornate arm chair with her right arm resting on a marble top table. She is wearing a
two diamond ring on her right ring finger. Her hair is pulled back with ringlets in the back. She is wearing a ribbon choker
that has two pins, one is a large circle of diamonds, the other is smaller and pinned inside the circle pin. Her dress is
a square cut decolletage with folded ribbons from side to side and in the back. She also is wearing a long 4-strand pearl
necklace about every four inches around the necklace is a five-diamond bar, in the center is a large brooch holding the strands
together, with three tear shaped pearls. Down the center of the bodice is three ribbon bows. The skirt front panel appears
to be brocade with the rest of the skirt a plain material. Four ribbon bows are down the brocade material. The long sleeved
jacket is of the same material, solid and brocade.

Chlapowski. Helena changed her name from Modrzejewski to Modjeska after coming to America.
