Martinez, Oct 19/06 Dear Mr. Johnson. I dont know anything at all about the Trinity mine or any other Nor do I know any
mine owners All this geology is out of my line. The part you've taken in affairs for public good may well be pleasant to
look upon I think much as you do about the remaining forests of the Alleghinies Western Mountains though mostly scraps patches.
I have not written a word for the press for mare than a year. Just now the old house is being repaired--After the workmen
leave I may find a comparatively calm time to work though Helen's health is still a souce of anxiety as well as things in
general connected with change of management of the ranch now that Wanda is married It's a bother to have any property to care
for My only great gain these troublous times is the views Ive gained of the first grand forests of the world which flourished
uncounted millions of years ago-- Ever faithfully yours John Muir 10064/
