letterhead Sept. 10th 1893 Robert Underwood Johnson Esq - Century Magazine New York Dear Sir - During June, July,
August the Sierra Club or rather its Directors can show but little activity because all are illegible for the summer. - Yesterday
was held the first satisfactory meeting of the Directors since last May. and your letter of June 4th was fully discussed and
acted on- In the absence of Mr. Muir, Professor Joseph Le Conte presided. In regard to your first suggestion, concerning obtaining
evidence of vandalism in Yosemite; the Directors will issue a notice to the public at large asking that complaints be sent
to the Sierra Club. Undoubtedly there are many who would make complaints but do not know to whom to send them. and next spring
we shall take up the matter in time to have some of those visiting the Valley to make reports The public notice too will have
its effect on the Yosemite Commissioners 06397
