letterhead Mch 4, 1908 My dear Muir. The enclosed letter I received Monday. I hardily liked the tone of it, tho' Vroman
did not seem to place the same force to? the objectionable sentence that I did. I wrote Calkins and quoting the sentence marked
on first page of his letter (read it), I said I did not underdstand that any arrangement was made at my house, but only a
talk to determine whether an arrangement along certain lines could be made, and that you were to take the matter under consideration,
determine later, after you had been home, and seen how things were up there. I told Vroman that I thought Mr Calkins might
be all right desirable? to aid you, but that I was fearfull of installing Mrs Calkins in your home, without fuller acquaintance
with her her manner ability. That I thought it would be advisable that you, instead of taking them into your home, should
come down here, go to their home in Los Angeles, and live a month with them. Mr Vroman fully agrees with me in this. 04081
