Sep. 24th 1895 Professor John Muir. My Dear Sir I am pleased to inform you of the reception of the two Books for which
I thank you very much. I have not looked into their details as yet, but I know I shall illegible in their contents in due
time, at present we are very busy transferring the Trout from our little Lake to the streams, and lakes above the upper Chil
illegible , the region of which we talked when you were here. The weather continues delightfully clear, and cool, the recent
storms having cleared the atmosphere, bringing out every detail of the forest and crags that surround us, scenes I need not
describe for you as quite familiar with every mountain and gorge. The season is fast approaching when our migration takes
place. I leave these grand old mountains, illegible , and meadows with many regrets, not alone for their inspiration and illegible
to ply my art, but for the life giving air we breathe, full of the aroma of the pines, and the wild flowers that dot the mountain
meadows. Again thanking you for your kind remembrances, I close with sincere good wishes for yourself, and Mrs. Muir. I
am very respectfully yours Thomas Hill 02027
