Martinez, May 6th, 1914. Dear Mr Parsons: I began to fear you were not making a quick mountaineer recovery from the grippisk
cold you brought from Honolulu judging from Mrs Parson's long stop in her typewriting up here. Yesterday a letter to Wanda
brought the bad news that you were still in bed and doctors were trying to find out what ailed you. I fondly hope you are
not seriously ill will soon be your own sturdy self again now that the weather on your warm belt hill is in every way favorable.
Anyhow don't let those overwise eager Shaman Medicine men make you believe that you are mysteriously sick. Every fiber of
you is full of mountain ozone fairly steeped seasoned in it making a reserve of strength that with god's good luck will bring
you victoriously through all lowland ills. Therefore be of good cheer. Ever your friend, John Muir
