Arbor Day ceremonies honored Edwin C. Voorhies (right), who for many years was a Professor of Agricultural Economics at Berkeley and Davis and served as Dean of Students at Berkeley from 1941 to 1946. A cork oak was planted just north of Voorhies Hall, an academic office building dedicated in his honor in 1959.
