-2- been invited to participate in the San Francisco meeting of the American Association next year. This office has, accordingly,
rendered such assistance as was required in announcing the organization of the pacific Coast Branch of the American Political
Science Association to people in this vicinity who is is hoped will be interested in this organization. I believe that the
Pacific Coast Branch of this society will be a very desirable accession to the number of societies to be affiliated with the
Pacific Division of the American association, and that, if it seems desirable to you, it will be in order for the Pacific
Division to present to this new organization at its first meeting our invitation to become affiliated with the Pacific Division
upon the same status as the constituent societies of the Pacific Association of Scientific Societies. Since this initial
meeting of the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Political Science Association is now to occur within a few days, and since
there is no other urgent business in view to justify calling a meeting of the pacific Coast Committee in the near future,
I am presenting this situation to the members of the pacific Coast Committee by mail and shall appreciate an early response
from you expressing your opinion upon this matter. Let me inquire further whether you may prefer to hold the matter in abeyance
until the Pacific Coast Committee may meet and be able to discuss this issue, or until the Pacific Coast Branch of the American
Political Science Association may have been in existence longer. I believe, however, that there is a certain advantage in
our prompt action in his matter in view of the present cordial relations between the organization committee of this new society
and the Pacific Division. Very sincerely yours, Albert L. Barrows, Assooiate Secretary.05799
