2 in the San Gabriel Reservation that far exced any I had found before in these mountains. I had used up most of my plates
bfore reaching the fine timber. So I have only a few views, but will return if I am well enough. can then send you some Photos
of conifer that will astonish you. it was the last of may I was there and were compelled to return the way we went on account
of deep snow, where there would have been no snow, if there had not been such dense timber to shield it from the sunshine
we found snow at 6000 ft and at 8000 feet the ground was still 1/3 covered. I thought I had written 3 to you about Mrs
Carr but from your letter. I think I may have neglected to do so. Mrs Carr is at the Tucker? home for old ladies in San Francisco
where she was taken about three months ago. A Guardian was apointed by the Court for her as her mind is nearly gone. she could
not dress herself and would get lost on her own place. Her memory of long passed events is perfectly clear. she can talk
for hours of passed events . but things of today or last homes. she knows nothing of the next time you meet her. we all feel
very bad of her condition. I hope when you are in San Francisco you will call on her
