ARNOLD ARBORETUM, HARVARD UNIVERSITY, JAMAICA PLAIN, MASS. October 26, 1904. Dear Muir: I am delighted to get your
two notes and your contribution to the Canby Memorial, which I am sure will be greatly appreciated by his family as it is
by me. Nothing new here but hard work and that isn't new. I should like it much better if I was starting off for New Zealand,
Australia, or somewhere else in the south where summer is reigning. You haven't told me what you have been doing all summer.
Yours faithfully, illegible John Muir, Esq., Martinez, Cal. 03465
