Berkeley, May 11, 1903. My dear Mr. Muir: I hope very much that we are to have you with us for the Commencement exercises
next Thursday morning, May fourteenth. Mrs. Wheeler and I hope to have the pleasure of your company at luncheon immediately
after the Commencement exercises. The exigencies of a small house will make it possible for us to have only the President's
own immediate party and a few of the older Regents at our own table. Mrs. Hearst, however, has very kindly placed her house,
which stands next door to ours, at our disposal for the day, and you and our other friends who gather there for lunch will
be none the less our guests than if room permitted the whole company to be gathered under our own roof. Very sincerely yours,
ILLEGIBLE Mr. John Muir, Martinez, California. 03247
