June 3rd, 1890. John Muir, Esq Martinez, Gal. My dear Mr. Muir:- A thousand thanks for your Copyright rashness. It
will help us very much. Things look better for the passage of thebill at the present session. I appeared before the Public
Lands Committee yesterday morning in advocacy of your limits. Vandever was present and lent the countenance of his support
to my little speech. I was obliged to dissipate the Impression that this was an extension of the present park, and in doing
so I had to give reasons why the extension should be made in that way; but I did it very gingerly so as not to hurt the feelings
of Mr. Vandever and Mr. DeHaven (the latter being a member of the Committee) and I disclaimed any hostility to the state of
California. I am very much obliged for the lovely way in which you have met my wishes in the matter of the two articles.
Please give my cordial regards to Mrs. Muir and believe me, Faithfully yours, R.N. Johnson. Kindly giver Mrs. Muir this
autograph letter for Mr. illegible , for me. 01432.
