Martinez, March 6, 1908 Dear Mr Calkins; This dismal Grippe is beginning to let go, I'm now much better. Helen continues
to send encouraging news, even the ranch business bids fair to be settled in a few days in a way that promises greater freedom
for real work. So we may still be able to do something together next summer or winter but probably not on the ranch. I wish
I knew as little about grippe as you think I do. I was convalescing from a 2d attack when you sagely observed I was not looking
well, - 2 attacks in one season besides a world of work anxiety over poor Helen. This present attack is the 3d for the year,
then to talk of the Bay Climate in connection with the epidemic sweeping over all Europe America - in margin: I'll write
again soon as business is definitely settled. Trusting Mrs Calkins is now quite well I am faithfully yours John Muir
