I have the honor to inform you that at a meeting of the Yale Corporation hold yesterday it was voted to confer upon you the
degree of Doctor of Letters in case you can be present at the Commencement Exercises in New Haven, on Wednesday, June the
twenty-first. We sincerely hope that you may be able to accept this invitation thereby enabling the University to honor itself
in honoring you. Full information regarding the Commencement Exercises, entertainment in New Haven, etc., will be sent to
you later. It is especially requested that the invitation contained in this communication to considered confidential. In early
