with you has ever since lived as one of my most treasured memories. It was in the year 1875, in the Yosemite Valley. I was
one of an editorial party of Eastern tourist. We were at Blacks Hotel; you were there on Saturday afternoon; , late in the
evening, I sat with you on the seat fronting the Yosemite fall, listened while you told me of mountaineering illegible es,
of the Little Yosemite , which you had 01561 2 recently discovered; the same I think which you, last year, described
in the Century - of other interesting but little known spots. You told me of the view from Glacier Point as indicating? the
results of glacial action, which I afterwards noted for myself. You told me of the earthquake the fall of masses from Sentinel
Rock, of many other facts which I have treasured ever since. Specially illegible your description of the water oisel(?) which
has run in my mind through all these years a poem in prose. I remember how you invited me to join you in your tour the next
day, which I cd. not do. And ever after I felt that 01561
