Ridge Road and Highland Place, Berkeley, Cal., August 11, 1900. My dear Mr. Muir: Ever since our return from the country
I have been hoping for an opportunity to go to Martinez to see you, but you will understand why it has been impossible when
I tell you that on Thursday night we had a little daughter born. It lived only a few hours, having cone two months before
time. Of course it has been a great disappointment to us, but I am happy to say that Louise is doing very well and looks forward
to a speedy recovery. It was so thoughtful of you to send me the clipping from the Dial. We read your beautiful article on
the wild flowers of the Yosemite and enjoyed it greatly. Perhaps it will be possible when the home life is more quiet to run
up to Martinez for a day, or when Louise is stronger we might both find our way there. With sincere regards to Mrs. Muir
and the girls, believe me, Faithfully yours, Charles Keeler 02178
