Home Monday Aug. 31, 1914 Darling Helen: We heard from Tom last evening that Wanda the new boy are doing well all are happy.
The family may be united here in two weeks or so. One of the men gleaned a box of belated pears which Tom took to the express
company yesterday I hope they will be found worth while. All goes fairly well here. Am having a lot of book shelves made
in the hall in your room and hope to get my books arranged in useful order. Have had a carpenter at work two weeks I'm slowly
gaining strength After a sudden chill had to quit writing but hope to get to work again after Mrs Parsons returns from her
outings in the Yosemite National glacier parks. Ever your loving father John Muir
