DENVER, COLO. January 12th, 1898. Mr. John Muir: Dear Sir, Before my return to the pulpit, I taught Modern Literature
for a number of years. I cannot give it up entirely. In addition to lecture courses similar to the one outlined in the enclosed
circular, I have a number of groups which meet regularly for a more personal study of authors, and a sympathetic study of
their books. Will you help me to find a discriminating sketch of your life? autobiographical if possible. I desire particularly:
place and time of birth; early education; travel; works issued (with date); present place of residence, and the school of
thought which has most influenced you. Believe me sincerely yours, Barton O. 02383
