Galen Clark '94 letterhead Dec 3rd 1894 Dear Mrs. Carr, I was very much pleased to receive your very kind, but brief
letter of Nov 21st although it brought the information that the Life and long sufferings of Prof Carr, were very near an earthly
end. It seems very sad to think that the sunset of such a brilliant and useful life in the meridian of his years, should be
darkened by such unhappy mental clouds and fearful suffering. The great and grievous burden which you have for several years
borne, although one of love and duty, must at times seemed almost insupportable. I have from time to time heard from you through
some of our mutual friends from Pasadena who have visited Yosemite. I have not seen a copy of Mr. Muirs Book, nor heard before,
that it was published. If he dedicated to anyone it should have been to you, as no one person has given to him the great encouragement
and assistance which you have. I have not seen him but once since he was married. He then looked more careworn, and not so
happy as he used to be when 00391
