1 Nov. 9th 1871 Danl Dear I have received your very welcome letter of Aug 5th I am always glad to know how you are getting
on. I hope you do not feel as a stranger in Maine? now - but are having many good friends and constantly gaining ground in
your practice - perhaps you do remember that it is 22 years today since we arrived at our first Wisconsin home. many are the
changes that have taken place in that time and many are the blessings - that have been showered down upon us - 2 I am
very thankful to our Heavenly Father for his protecting care of us all and though the family is widely scattered yet we are
all spared - by his great mercy - I hope our lengthened days will be spent in his service - Every thing moves on here about
the same as usual, your father is still busy in the field illegible King corn - Anna intends staying at home this winter -
and Joanna intends teaching - she came home from Portage about a week ago, and in ten days will leave home again as far as
