Original in possession of Mr. Henry G. Bryant, Philadelphia. Martinez, California October 6, 1908. My dear Professor
Fay ? I think with Mr. Bryant yourself that the Club should do all in it power to honor the brave Captain Cagni. And as
you suggest I hereby appoint a committee of three to determine the character of the function, (dreadful word to pagan mountaineers)
carry it into execution. And let the able experienced Mr. Bridgman be made chairman of the Committee with power to choose
his coadjutors. In such affairs my dear Professor go ahead as if I were beyond all use at the bottom of a crevasse. Nevertheless
believe me ever heartily in sympathy with the American Alpine Club, ever faithfully yours John Muir
