To Senator Knute Nelson, Feb. 8, 1909. Your consideration is asked for a national questi illegible cheapness not sufficient
reason for destroction? on second greatest feature of Yosemite Park; part of my life's work endangered and loss to nation
irreparable; no necessity for such a sacrifice. You have helped to create our parks you will not destroy them without proof
of necessity. My health does not permit me to appear before you. Alden Sampson will represent me and illegible and large majority
