EDIT0RIAL-DEPARTMENT THE CENTUKT-MAGAZINE UNION SQUARE NEW YORK July 26, 1904. R. W. GILDER, EDITOR R. U. JOHNSON,
ASSOCIATE EDITOR C. C. BUEL, ASSISTANT EDITOR My dear Muir: I am giving a note of introduction to you to my friend
Henry W. Cannon, President of the Board of Trustees of the Chase National Bank of this city, and one of the leading men in
the Pacific Coast Co. which operates a line from Seattle to Alaska. Mr. Cannon is now in Seattle and I think is to he there
until about the first of September. If you should go up there I charge you by my valued friendship for you not to fail to
hunt up Mr. Canon. He is one of the best fellows In the world and very companionable. He is a friend of man, literary men,
a member of The Century Clug, and altogether a man whom I think you would find sympathetic. Faithfully yours, Illegible
John Muir, Esq., Hartinex, Cal. 03413
