early summer of each year what we call a Recreation Number, the object of it being to inspire our readers to out-of-door life,
and to give them some guidance and instruction how to get that out-of-door life in the best way and with the best advantage.
I read your Our National Parks last spring, in connection with a call - it was not enough to be entitled a visit - at the
Yosemite Valley. It made me long for the privilege which you offered Ralph Waldo Emerson and he declined, but which I fear
I shall never have, of spending at least a few hours in the woods with you. I should want it to be weeks. That is impossible;
but I hope it may not be impossible for you to comply with the request of this note, and 03476
