Martinez, Sep. 21, 1909- Dear Mrs Hooker: I'm very sorry to have missed last Sunday's visit on account of misunderstanding
slowness four mails. I have just received your letter this morning on my return from Daggett after a short visit to Helen.
I left home Saturday should have received your letter before that. If I had I would have postponed starting until Sunday night
or Monday which would have answered just as well. After the misunderstanding- when I asked at the train if you would come
again next Sunday, I understood Marian to say No- not next Sunday . Now these little trips must I think be restful good for
you both, the way to avoid all bother about tardy letters telegrams hello phones etc is just to come every Sunday. Any how
come next Sunday. Unless forbidden I'll be down to meet you at the ferry Helen is well happy Ever yours faithfully John
Muir
