Chichester, Treas. William W. Ellsworth, Secretray January 25, 1895. Mr. John Muir, Martinez, Cal. My dear Mr. Muir,
Mr. Johnson has just shown me the query at the end of your letter of the 10th as to the sales of your book. We are glad to
report that the first edition of fifteen hundred is exhausted and we are getting well started in the second edition, which,
considering the fact that the book has only been out a few months, is, we think, doing very well. We have had a steady demand
from California and have supplied a number of dealers there, but most of them get their supplies from the wholesale dealers
in San Francisco, all of whom we think keep the book in hand. We have within a few days received a further and additional
order from Messrs. Payot, Upham Co. for 150 copies. If you will kindly let us know of any dealer who has difficulty in getting
supplies we shall be glad to see that the matter is righted. With sincere regards, believe me Very truly yours, Frank
