Martinez, Cal., April 13, 1910. Mr. Ferris Greenslet, Houghton Mifflin Co., Boston, Mass. Dear Mr. Greenslet:- I thank
you for your letter of March 23rd. I expect to send manuscript of My First Summer in the Sierra by express tomorrow and hope
you will find it worth while. I suppose it will have to be well illustrated. I have plenty of photographs illustrating the
region, and also quite a number of my own pencil sketches. I suppose some of these notes may be used in my autobiography.
They have already been drawn upon to some extent in the Mountains of California and Parks. Let me have your opinion soon as
possible. As to the check, I am glad it is all right. I fancied it had been lost in some of the wrecked railroad trains.
I hope to get out another animal book ere long, and a guide book describing Yosemite and other Yosemites. With best wishes
