This letter was copied, and original returned to Mr. C. W. Carruth, 1537 Webster St. Oakland. Cal., November 23, 1922. The
original envelope was addressed as 520 15th St., Oakland. Martinez, May 10, 1912. Dear Mr. Carruth: In trying to clear
my desk of a great talus of letters nearly a year high, I came to-day upon yours dated March 23, 1911, enclosing cards for
Ina Coolbrith's book shower. Am sorry I missed the reception since fate has kept us apart for many a year. As to books, I
can easily send the ones she wants, perhaps My First Summer and Yosemite just out. Another will probably be published this
summer or fall--a first volume of autobiography called My Boyhood and Youth . I've just returned from a long trip through
South America and Africa. Let me hear how you are all getting on. Ever yours faithfully, JOHN MUIR. 05196
