From 1932 to 1934, a room in the home of Lorene Gledhill, at 343 Mariposa Street, was used as Brisbane's first library.
Mrs. Gledhill served as the librarian. She received $5.00 per month for services and rental. Her husband, Arthur Gledhill,
edited and published Brisbane's first newspaper, the Brisbane Sun.
