219 Grand Ave Waukesha, Wis. Feb. 11, 1905 Prof Muir: - My dear old Friend. My niece at Moneta California wrote
me an account of your dear wife's death and the illness of you and your daughter. Words at such a time as this is of little
consolations though they come from earthly friends. None can console us in these trying times of life but the word of God
which 03527 2 is full of consolation to the believer. As you have made the works of God a lifes study and of all my
reading I know of no one who studied and appreciated them more than you, He doeth all things well though his ways seems dark
and mysterious to us. Our dear departed friends cannot come to us, but the time is short and passing fast a few more days
we will 03527 3 be with them. We enjoy with wonder admiration delight in studying His handywork here on this earth,
but what is to be compared beyond the borne from no one returns. They cannot come to us but we may, in time, get to them.
Mr. Griswold always desires to know if I have heard from you also Mr. Stewart. Time is telling on them as well as us. You
seem to be well known hear and much loved by your writings. With much love in your afflictions Yours John Howitt 03527
