Description:
Picture of Manning Elementary School, built ca. 1910 and located at the intersection of West and Springfield avenues, near
Easton, Calif. Shows Western Stick architectural style. The schoolhouse initially contained two rooms, and later two more
rooms and a basement were added to accommodate higher enrollment. In 1950, the schoolhouse was purchased by Our Lady of Mount
Carmel church and moved to south Fresno, where it functioned as a chapel until it was razed. The Manning District was created
in 1910, and merged with the American Union District in 1949.
