(85) Martinez, May 7th, 1908. Dear Mr. Johnson: I'm glad you're home and that you had a good rich time. I'll take your
letter with me on the Yosemite trip and hopefully deliver your message, suggestions etc. I leave New York May 29th on the
Gaelio, and hope to get at least a glimpse of you as I sail as I sail. I think I told you that I am going with Sargent across
Asia by the Russian road, through Siberia and Manchuria to Peking; thence to Japan, Java, and Manilla - to look at trees rocks
etc. I did not forget Mrs. Tully's Prairie Girl book, It is a charming picture of child-life in the old West. But after reading
Julian Hawthorn's review I thought anything I could say might do less good than harm. Remember me to all your family and
