Cuba - Province of Oriente - Santiago de Cuba: The famous bust of Theodore Roosevelt, leader of the famous Rough Riders in
their charge up San Juan Hill (Loma San Juan) to battle and finally vanquish the Spaniards entrenched on its fortified summit.
This monument to the famous "Teddy" stands in the Parque Roosevelt at the northern end of the city just at the beginning of
the Viste Alegre district, a new residential district growing up out beyond the busy city's crowded areas. A short distance
away is Loma San Juan (San Juan Hill), and here in the little park named for the great American the Santiago zoological garden
is housed, perhaps a tribute to the man's further prowess as a big-game hunter.
