Martinez, May 12, 1909. Dear Mr Calkins, After being five weeks in Hospital at Los Angeles with typhoid fever Helen is
gain at her desert home Daggett happy hopeful about as well as ever. I had a good time showing John Burroughs the Petrified
forest, Grand Canon, Yosemite He is now in Honolulu for a short stay. Of course only bewildering impressions can be got on
such hasty racing trips. Many thanks for the kind things you say about Little Stickeen Helen - with sincere regards to Mrs
