Thanking for letter quotation from Yosemit? book. 51 mistakes in book. Martinez, Cal. Aug. 1, 1912 Dear friend Lukens:
I thank you for your kind letter of July 3d, with quotation from the Yosemite book, the more important appreciation of the
book from yourself family. As to the errors in it when I first read it on my return from Africa, I found no fewer than 51
which the publishers promise to correct in the next edition. When I handed in the manuscript I told them to set it up but
on no account to publish until I had returned read the proof Instead they went right ahead depending on their own very poor
proofreaders. I'll see that sort of work does not occur again I may be in Pasadena ere long. With all good wishes to yourself
family including Helen Luther? I am ever faithfully your friend John Muir
