Martinez, May 6, 1912 Dear Mrs Hooker You will find the missing trees in the new edition of the Mountains of California
a copy of which goes to you today by mail. That you Marian, celestial twins, are going north about the time I'll be going
south is according to the eternal unfitness of mundane things. We must look, it seems, somewhere in the sky for a permanent
meeting place. Heavens What long unblazed trails through starry space friends have to trace to get together. Anyhow let's
be hopeful grateful for the good ante-death days we have enjoyed. I took a dusty sore throat cold in my den about a week
ago, and until today haven't been able to speak above a choking whisper. Am now getting better. Ever affectionately John
Muir
