Title:

S. E. view of the Boca de La Playa, Vejar-Pryor adobe on Rancho Canada de Los Alisos

Description:

S. E. view of the Boca de La Playa, Vejar-Pryor adobe on Rancho Canada de Los Alisos. The roof, windows and adjacent shrubbery are visible as well as a man standing next to the adobe home reading. Its location: "under a little point of hill overlooking the ocean at the mouth of the San Juan River." "The walls have been disturbed very little, however, but there are wings made of lumber, to the west." Boca de la Playa was a small ranch claimed by San Juan Capistrano Mission and granted to Emigdio Vejar. It was used by the Mission in the hide and tallow trade. In 1936 it was occupied by a daughter of Pablo Pryor, the wife of Miguel Yorba.
