letterhead Feb 20, 1900 My dear Mr. Muir, I have seen quite a number of the members of the Harriman expedition and they
tell me that great changes have taken place in the glaciers of Glacier Bay. Mr. Sarmett? is to send me his map of the end
of the Muir glacier and Mr. Gilbert has sent me photographs of Hugh Miller Reid Inlets. Did you succeed in deciding whether
Render? , Carroll and Geikie glaciers have changed since your visit in 1896? and did you notice changes in any other glaciers?
I am now making up my annual report. In the Sept. number of the London Geographical Journal, Klotz of the Canadian Boundary
Commission thinks from his interpretation of Vancouver's narrative that Brady glacier has advanced two or three miles in the
last hundred years. Do you think this could be correct? The Gituya Bay glaciers seem also to have materially advanced, but
most of the glaciers of that region have receded. 02668
