Description
The Mah Soo-Lay 馬樹禮 papers (1941-2000) document the activities of Republic of China politician, ambassador, and journalist Mah Soo-lay. These include the speeches and writings, correspondence, printed matter, and audiovisual material relating to political conditions in China and Taiwan, the Kuomintang 中國國民黨, Taiwanese relations with Japan, and the Chinese community in Indonesia, Malayasia, and elsewhere in Asia.
Background
Mah Soo-lay 馬樹禮 (Ma Shu-li , Ma Shuli 马树礼) (1909-2006) was a journalist and political leader for the Republic of China. He served as deputy secretary-general, Chinese Overseas Association; Taiwanese ambassador to Japan, 1973-1985; and secretary-general, Kuomintang 中國國民黨 (KMT, Zhongguo guo min dang 中国国民党), 1985-1988.
