Martinez, Jan 9, 1908 Dear Miss Hittell I'm delighted with the salvation of the Tamalpais Redwood groves, that so noble
a park, naturally a part of San Francisco should ever have been in danger of destruction is a sad commentary on its citizen
illegible I'll write Mr Kent my thanks congratulations. How refreshing to find such a man amid so so vast a multitude of
dull money hunters dead in trespasses sins. I have been away in the Mohave desert making a camp for her where she will according
to Dr Moffett have to stay for a year or two. Her address is Daggett, California, Write to her. She has been very sick - pneumonia
- but is getting better is charmed with the grand spacious desert scenery climate. We left home Dec. 20, hence delay in reply
to your letters, thoug I had already written to Mrs White. Will return to Daggett in a week or so. With all good wishes,
faithfully yours John Muir
