May 14, 1908. John Muir, Esq., Martinez, Cal. Dear Sir;- Your favor of May 2nd just to hand. We are pleased indeed
to know that you will accept the invitation of the people of Hawaii and make us a visit at an early date. Choose your own
time, only, if possible, let us know slightly in advance of your coming. You are at liberty to choose any line of steamers
you may wish. The General Passenger Agents of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, Oceanic Steamship Company, Matson navigation
Company and the American-Hawaiian Steamship Company have received instructions to favor you with transportation when requested.'
I would suggest, however, that you notify them, if possible, thirty days in advance, in order that you may secure the best
accommodations obtainable. Trusting that we may have the pleasure of seeing you in Hawaii within the next few months and
with best wishes for your continued good health, believe me Yours very truly, illegible Secretary.04188
