in margin: Your book made Mr. Manson very happy and proud. Daggett, Cal. July 12th Dear Papa Your cheerful letter from
the mountains came yesterday, and it did us all good to know you are having such a fine time. I got your first letter quite
a while ago but as I didnt know how long you would stay with the Club I waited to hear again before I wrote All goes well
here. Im feeling grand and cheerful, and the weather is after my own heart - from 112 to 115 every day now, and I throughly
enjoy it and havent a single pain. I have another cat now too, and my horse is as fine as ever so I couldn't be lonesome even
if the decapods didn't whistle so cheerfully going by the ranch. Remember me to all my old friends who are with you, and
enjoy your mountains as Im enjoying my desert and its warmth. Always lovingly Helen
