Answered New Harmony, Ind. May 3, 1910. Mr. John Muir, Martinez, Calif. Dear Mr. Muir, Enclosed is a statement written
by Earl Lyon, which he delivered at the planting of a tree on Arbor Day April 28. These are the exact words of his original
copy, and was written without suggestion as to thoughts to be given. The class was asked to name our tree and to write why
we named it John Muir. This was the best and he gave it as an address at the Arbor Day Program. Earl is eleven years of age
and in the sixth year. He is the son of a widow who works diligently to have sufficient means to keep him in school. We are
all very sure that she will have her reward from this boy for this is the kind of work he does in all his school work. 04755
