Portage, Wis., Dec. 16, '92. Dear Brother and Sister: It hardly seems possible that a year has passed since last we were
reaching out to you with loving good wishes for Christmas and New year, but so it is, and as lovingly and heartily we again
wish you and yours all that is good and best, for the coming year, with the blessing of our dear heavenly father to enrich
and gladden all. Our Christmas gathering will be smaller than ever this year, but the gain will be at your end of the line,
and truly it is your turn. I trust you will all be glad and happy to enjoy the season's pleasures as they come, and thank
God for them all. We are all pretty well here. Mother is getting through the cold weather so far very well. My own health
is better, and now I take up my old work and get along pretty well, The girls are still in the store, so they have very little
time to spend at home, but after the holiday season is over they may perhaps have longer evenings to themselves. Joanna and
the children are well. Walter has not returned yet, but Joanna is expecting him before long. Mrs. Robinson was here visiting
for two or three days,--she is not very strong. Her second oldest son, who was married last summer, works the farm, so that
she is more at liberty and can take things easier than ever before. Give my love to Wanda and Helen. They will have a happy
time. Tell Grandma that I wish the wish for her that she wishes most. We have had quite a little winter already, with lots
of snow. There is good sleighing now. With much love to all, 1 am, Affectionately yours, S. M. Galloway
